If you want to, feel free to introduce yourself to the group.
Let me start. I am an old writer starting up again. That is
why I started this group. I have written three books and have
had over 60 articles published. I have not written much lately,
however. I am a retired army chaplain now turned professional
salesman. I look forward to hearing more about others in this
group. Welcome. Feel free to help me develope this forum.

Howdy to all and many thanks for the invitation BlessedOne. I am an educator and researcher in science from Texas. Firstly I am a Christian above all things, I should add. That being said my interests are broad and varied and I have collected many books and sites about them. This is a process that never ends and for that I am glad. One new thing I've run across that may be of interest to everyone is a great rare book digitization offering from the Library of Congress. loc.gov [loc.gov] is the link I believe... I'm thankful to be here and look forward to fun and interesting things, but at my age I leave the drama for the fiction department and try to enjoy a smart and wholesome lifestyle. I say this because I've noticed in other discussion groups (albeit in the rarified advanced science world) that it is a forum for childish arguments and insults. I'm quite sure that this will be an entirely different forum...
Sincere thanks and Blessings to all...

Hi to all, and as well, thanks be to BlessedOne for the invite to the group. As I stated to him, I'm not sure what I can contribute to this group, and may end up reading more than contributing, because from the looks already of what I've read, as a poet and a card writer, I can't even begin to know what that would be. My writings are more on a personal basis, and have never had anything bought or sold. However, I love words, the play of them, the drawing one in to another's realm, and I look forward to all that I see here. I agree with Kenneth, I too tire of the banter that goes on in some of the forums, the squibbles, and all that nonsense. I've actually left many forums because of that. Of course, not speaking in any of them it didn't matter, but reading them was my main reason for joining them. That, however, became tiring. So alas, I'm left to my few forums, and now, this one has joined the ranks. Oh, my, have I rambled? Maybe that's why I haven't ever posted in a forum, too much rambling ... *ends now* ;)

Well, a warm hello to all. Thanks for the invite. ;) Ah, where to begin. Firstly, the woman who got me in to writing was none other than that immortal Ms. Anne Rice. I enjoy nothing more than curling up with my gothic lover boy Lestat and hearing him rail against anything. Oh, and dear Louis, I've read Interview with the Vampire 5 times now. I enjoy Stephen King alot as well. As for my writing career, I've started over 12 novels (intended novels anyway), finished none of course, but I'm learning every step of the way. My latest project might actually get finished sometime this year. I'll keep you posted. Oh, if you notice any semblances between my writing and Ms. Rice's, it's purely coincedental. I swear. :P But my tongue gets ahead of the rest of me.
Ta,
NLK

Hello everyone! I feel like such a neophyte compared to the seasoned writers that populate this group, having barely writen anything beyond acedmics. I'm a 17 year-old girl who's more an avid reader than a aspiring writer, but nonetheless, I've joined this group in hopes of absorbing some experience from more established writers. Certain qualities I possess have gotten in the way of my writing persuits, mainly OCD, which can turn even the most recreational writing into a chore. (Also, I have Nonverbal Learning Disorder which allows for elloquent expression among other things both advantageous and detrimental) These same qualities have the potential to turn me into an exceptional writer, to date my attempt at learning to harness them by gaining writing experience have stagnated. So here I am, hoping this may wet my toes a bit. Oh, I'm also quite prone to rambling (hopefully not too excessively), just to forewarn you ;).

It's time for me to chime in here. My name's Greg. I've been writing for about 25 years -- poetry and short-stories in my teens, corporate stuff and some journalism in my 20s, unsold screenplays and spec teleplays in my 30s, as well as a few unpublished novels, unproduced theatrical plays, and many more poems and short-stories along the way. Now that I'm in my 40s, I'm trying to bring together all of what I've learned along the way and make a concerted effort to do this professionally. For anyone who's interested, I've started a new blog, A Fleeting Feeling of Certainty.

Hi to Gregux, resmc, no-life-king, deltascouteagle, and BlessedOne, *waves* What a great intro from everyone so far... I've enjoyed reading about each and everyone of you.

I just visited your new blog Gregux, and how very interesting. I, however believe in an afterlife, and am a very spiritual being, but I respect your thoughts on how you live your life, and then as well, how you die. It was a very enjoyable read, and I look forward to more.

Thanks for the invitation, Blessedone.
I only describe myself as a "writer" on immigration forms in difficult countries. I am really a hack - a working journalist. Paid to have opinions. That is the upside. But the mainstream media is dumbing down and there now are unprecedented constraints on what one may write. So, from time to time, I blog. Not here, of course. I pic blog here for the sheer joy of aesthetics. Wordsmith escapism.
I've only had one book published, a cookery book of all things. But I review books - which puts me in the odd position of rarely getting to choose what I read.
As an Australian, the most irreligious country in the world, I am frequently startled, if not alarmed, by the emphasis Americans put on their status as Christians. In Australia we tend not to discuss our religion. But since it seems a point given some priority on this forum, my leaning is decidedly Buddhist.

I would not consider my self a writer, though I have had writing as a dream since I can remember. I am, however, a story teller. I have made up stories on the fly for friends and family for half my life. My son has been pestering me to write these puppies down. God willing, I will sit my butt down and do it, perhaps.
